The African country is known for its wildlife, nature and culture.
What do we need to know about Zimbabwe?
- It is a landlocked country in Africa, which means that it has no coastline. It’s surrounded by Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa and Botswana.
- Some of the attractions of the country are the Victoria Falls (one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World), Lake Kariba (the biggest man-made lake in the world), natural parks and places where animals such as elephants, lions, giraffes, etc. live.
- Multiple currencies and more than 16 languages coexist in the country. Agriculture and mining are the basis of its economy.
- The country is the last African country to achieve independence in 1980 and, like its flag, the country is identified by agriculture, mineral wealth (green), blood shed during the liberation war (red), black as the black majority of the country and peace as the triangle inside the flag.
- The capital, Harare, is adorned with purple Jacaranda trees during August and September as the end of the dry winter in the country, so nature and buildings are part of the beautiful daily sight.
— ZIMBABWEAN CUISINE —
The food in the country is distinguished by its natural ingredients such as vegetables and cereals (corn), fruits, meats and its tasty culinary preparations. Some of the features of its cuisine are a balance between British and African traditions.
The traditional t-bone steak and sadza dish is part of most menus. It consists of t-bone which is the cut of the short loin attached to the beef bone and steamed vegetables with Muriwo (green leafy vegetables similar to kale) and Sadza. Sadza is a very important meal in African countries, it consists of cooked maize flour.
In addition to the good food I enjoyed, the people, the animals, the nature and the weather made my short trip very pleasant and tempting to revisit and to see the largest waterfall in the world and many other animals.
