— ENGLISH CUISINE —
The country’s cuisine is the result of the British Empire and post-war immigration. Multicultural cooking styles and traditions form their diverse recipes and American, Chinese as well Indian products are among its main ingredients and dishes. Yorkshire pudding, fish and chips and chicken tikka masala are some of the national dishes.
Fish and chips is a culinary fusion of immigrant cultures. The fish (cod) is battered and fried crispy and the warm fried potatoes are accompanied with a garnish of peas, either in sauce (mushy peas) or the peas whole and a different side such as tartar sauce.
The Duches of Cambridges Pub is a traditional British pub in Windsor, London where I tried the local dishes in a cozy and royal setting outside the Windsor Castle. The place offers a Sunday roast and many options as the famous pig in the blanket, a small appetizer consisting of a pork sausage wrapped in bacon.

Scones are a sweet bread consumed at afternoon tea and It consists of wheat or oatmeal with baking powder and glazed with eggs, it’s baked and served with clotted cream (similar to whipped cream but more caramelised) and fruit jam. The afternoon tea is a very traditional mealtime in England and it’s because of the importance of tea in the country. Tea is more consumed than coffee and it has been imported since the colonial times.
Sugar Junction, is a perfect venue in central Manchester to enjoy an afternoon tea with many options for scones and varieties for tea. The tearoom is a very classic English place with a quiet and warm atmosphere.
